High-resolution near-edge xray absorption fine structure (NEXAFS) of gases is performed in a small chamber in-line with the 7.012 microscopy branchline. Detection is through ion collection along a 10 cm biased capacitor plate. Isolation from the beamline is through an Aluminum window (approx. 2000 Angstroms) thick, which may be changed to a user-supplied window if desired.
